Yes, the push to keep on pushing. I am certainly tired. And find myself as many in a place where it is not easy to stop. LOVE the music shared in your 5 things. The Dawn of Everything is worth a read and a ponder. Take it easy & keep listening. ❤️
I just did back-to-back nights of storytelling at a little theater in Helena, MT. I'd never done anything like that before. It was all Indigenous performers and I loved it. Winter is storytelling season for Indigenous people in my part of the world and there are some stories that are only told in winter. I told the audience this, and I told them I loved how we all chose to gather in the place, like we were sharing time in our Big Lodge, in a room where our heartbeats could synch up to the drums, just as we've done for thousands of years. No streaming, no recording, a singular event happening just for the people there and all they could relate back to in the future were the memories. It was profound. Winter was arguably my favorite season prior to these last two nights, but it is inarguably so now.
This brilliantly names the new feeling I have for the winter that's emerging. For the first time, I do not want to ignore it, be afraid of it, or run from it. It feels that it's going to show me something I can only see or feel when I'm rested, and not telling myself the same stories. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Thanks for the self reflection about taking care of yourself and making time to rest. There's so much of the world that demands our attention all the time. Thanks for sharing.
“I don’t have to stop if I don’t want to; life goes on, and on, and on. But does it?” This makes me switch into freshman year stoner philosophy brain where I want to ask well what is life? what makes life possible for us?Is life in all its complexity separate from the constructs we have built? Our aliveness is intricately woven with our dependency on natural resources. We are life, yet when we stop producing, delivering, consuming we are told we are no longer alive, no longer relevant. I love the thought that leaning into stillness and what some might label as stagnancy, is the key to feeling in tune with life, not separate from it.
Thanks for the reminder about that 500-page book. I received it as a gift 2 years ago and haven't cracked it open yet due to fear of failure (i.e., not finishing it) and probably fear of commitment. But maybe it's time to dig in.
Maybe. Or maybe you haven't opened it because it isn't that interesting to you or isn't calling you right now. I really believe that we know when it is time to open the books around us. It may take years, or you may never open it. It was a gift, after all - not something you chose for yourself.

You as well. I'm tired too. REST.

Me too. I'm feeling excited to stop.
simplicity is exciting!
I keep thinking about this one winter that I truly rested and reflected. It keeps coming to mind because I need it. Thank you for the reminder.
I need it too :)
The winter of our wildest dreams! I am obsessed with this idea/phrasing/reflection prompt.
I printed out your year of the word worksheets to help make this dream a reality.
Aw! Feel free to text me alllll about it :)

Wow, this speaks maturity, winter is a big concept, winter is really a realization. I am learning slowly, accepting slow. Thank you for your words.

How serendipitous to come across this post as I “boil my bones” -- a favorite winter ritual I’ve developed over 46 winters in Wisconsin ❄️🛀🏻
winter. From Wisconsin, I have it in my blood, the best season! Sub Zero late night strolls and skiing, saunas etc.
Usually I complain some in February about the cold, as it is the heart of wintertime. Otherwise, bundle up!!
I love your reminder that we've been TAUGHT to ignore winter. Finding a new way is brave. Here's to finding new rhythms and patterns!
